This is what Pine SOL is primarily known for and unsurprisingly, it is quite good at it. It is pretty versatile as a cleaning agent too. It can clean a wide variety of surfaces and stains. Most applications will require you to use diluted Pine SOL.
However, in the case of stubborn stains, you can use full-strength Pine SOL. Just ensure that you test an obscure part of the surface first to confirm that you do not damage it. In its diluted form, it is quite safe and can be used on most surfaces including sealed wood. Make sure that it does not come in contact with your skin.
Pine SOL is a very effective disinfectant and is widely compatible with a wide range of things that might need disinfecting. Almost every use of it as a disinfectant can be accomplished by its diluted form.
Use it at its standard strength only for really dirty things that won’t get damaged by it. It is also important to ensure that there is plenty of air circulation. Inhaling Pine SOL, especially at its standard concentration can cause major health concerns.
This is one application that is not known to many. Pine SOL in its standard form has quite a corrosive effect on the paint. It is, of course, necessary to ensure that the thing from which you are trying to remove paint doesn’t react with Pine SOL. Metallic objects are fine.
Take some Pine SOL in a jar, place the object you want to remove paint inside the jar in such a way that it is completely immersed. Close the jar and leave it for 8-12 hours and the paint should come right off.
This is perhaps the most surprising use of Pine SOL. If you have a cat that treats every corner of your house as its litter area then just clean all these places with Pine SOL.
Cats hate its fragrance and they won’t create any further nuisance. Pine SOL is also a great fly repellent. Clear the area of people and pets and spray Pine SOL. Let it sit for a few hours and hose the area down. The area should no longer be afflicted with annoying flies and other little critters. Again ensure that no one uses the area before it has been properly cleaned with water.
While detergents are a lot better at cleaning and disinfecting these days, really dirty clothes can be washed and disinfected with Pine SOL. Washers and dryers can also be cleaned and disinfected using Pine SOL.
There you have it. Pine SOL is an incredibly useful cleaning agent. Just make sure to use it responsibly.
